Scrunchies were kinda like pony tail holders except they were covered in a sort of flimsy material which was munched up. So when worn in the hair it would kind of look like a climpy cotton flower. Scrunchies were popular from the mid eighties to the mid ninties. Bolder and louder than the average hairtie, scrunchies took the basic elastic band to the next level. Whether done up in sparkly fabric or just simple solid colors, they not only kept side ponies and long hair in check, they doubled as wrist accessories.
